Gartner: Over $3.6 trillion will be spent on IT this year

Gartner has updated its forecasts on global IT market for 2012.
According to estimates, in 2011 the volume of the global IT market totaled $3.52 trillion, up 7.9 % from last year. 3 % increase is expected in the current year - to $3.63 trillion.
According to analysts, the greatest increase in sales - 10.8% will be observed in the telecom equipment segment, whose volume could reach $377 billion.

Russia wants to create Internet black list

The State Duma of the Russian Federation has adopted in the first reading a bill to create a unified roster of domains and websites to spread information banned.
According to the bill, an authorized government body will keep the register of websites to which access should be banned in Russia.
The list-register will include websites with child pornography, promotion of drug use, the resources that incite children to commit suicide etc. The list can be replenished with new sites by the agency as well as by the courts.

Hundreds of thousands could lose Internet access on Monday

Hundreds of thousands of users worldwide could lose access to the Internet on Monday, July 9. On that day, the US Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) will disconnect temporary DNS-servers servicing  to the computers infected with DNSChanger malware. In total, it can affect more than 300,000 users worldwide.
In November of 2011, the FBI arrested six citizens of Estonia, on suspicion of fraud on the Internet and DNS Changer virus infection of thousands of computers around the world.

Android smartphones to help the blind in indoor orientation

Fujitsu and the Japan’s National Institute of Information and Communications Technology (NICT) have announced their joint development of an indoor support system that is designed to help  the blind and visually impaired people to determine  their location.
It is configured with several base stations positioned in an indoor area as part of the infrastructure, several mobile stations (one for the user and others for destinations) and Android smartphone that controls the entire system.
