CDMA

This communication system was standardized according to the IS-95 standards by the Telecommunications Industry Association of America in 1993.  Today this is considered as the most contemporary or advanced mobile telephone system. The CDMA technology has been recommended by the ITU as a basis for preparing the 3rd generation mobile communication system. The advantages of CDMA include the installation of telephone connection anywhere without connecting to a cable network, high quality and of privacy, protection against unauthorized entrances.

The main reasons of passing from GSM to the new CDMA standard are followings:

  • High-quality transmission of voice and call: Like usual cable communication, the CDMA technology provides high-quality transmission of voice and call.
  • Moreover, CDMA helps to preserve confidentiality of information (because of coding) and extends the quality of contact by overcoming parallel-channel calls as well as by removing obstacles in background.
  • Less expenditure of the energy: During the transmission of the information by CDMA phones, less energy is wasted than by using telephones in other technologies. Power control minimizes interference, resulting in maximized capacity.So it increases working time of the battery, period of call and waiting time. It helps the network dynamically expand the coverage area, too. Therefore, using the little batteries allows manufacturers to produce light and little telephones.

Less breaking in calls: Because of overcharging the system, some problems may appear like parallel or breaking calls, signals showing the employment of the telephone. But CDMA virtually prevents them for a short time and increases the dynamism of the system.

By using digitally operating channels through CDMA, the customers can identify who is calling them. Besides they are able to use new services as operative transference of information and datum. As the expanding of the signal spectrum removes artificial hitches, CDMA is largely applied in the military communication system, too.

CDMA wireless communication service was put into operation in the “Aztelekom” PU in September, 2005. At that time its coverage area included only Baku, Absheron and Shamakhi. As a result of the proper measures taking in this direction for a short time, CDMA wireless communication service, which consists of 38 base stations of the “Aztelekom” PU, has been applied in 26 regions and 5 cities (Baku, Ganja, Sumgait, Mingachevir and Shirvan) in the Republic. In the near future, CDMA wireless communication service will be applied in other regions of the Republic.

The index of CDMA subscribers in Baku and Absheron region is “408” and the subscribers of the region do not have to pay additional fee for the calls with the local network in Baku.

In other cities and regions of the Republic, the wireless CDMA services are applied by the code “044” and implemented according to the numeration of 7 figures.

For example: The numeration system of the CDMA subscribers in Ganja is in 044-222-xx-xx form. In Sumgayit it is in 044-208-xx-xx form, in Shaki it is in 044-277-xx-xx form, in Zagatala it is in 044-274-xx-xx form, in Lankaran it is in 044-222-xx-xx form and so on.. Such numeration allows subscriber to know from which region the caller is. According to the intercity tariff, one minute of the call among different regions is calculated from 7 coins.

The CDMA users with the indices “408” and “044” pay expenses of both incoming and outgoing calls like intercity calls, themselves (only in the case of moving from one region to the other).

Currently, it is used 2 tariff packets for the CDMA communication services of the “Aztelekom” PU: An unlimited packet (monthly subscription fee – 10 AZN) and a limited packet (monthly subscription fee – 2 AZN).

1. Call Forwarding
         

 

a) Unconditional call forwarding

With this type of call forwarding service, the calls dialled directly go to another number. For example: We have diverted 408-12-12 to 408-44-99. If anybody dials the number 408-12-12, the number 408-44-99 will answer.

For the activation of this service a subscriber should dial:

* 62---the diverting number --- «yes»---registration.

# 66—«yes»---deactivation.

* 66---«yes»--- activation.

# 62—«yes»---cancellation.

 

b) Call forwarding while the phone line is busy

In this service if the diverted number is busy, call will go to the number that we directed to. For example: The number 408-12-12 has been forwarded to the number 408-44-99. When somebody calls to 408-12-12 and this number is busy, the call will go to the 408-44-99.

For the activation of this service a subscriber should dial:

* 67--- the diverting number --- «yes»---- registration.

# 68---«yes» --- de activation

* 68---«yes»---- activation

c) Call forwarding while no answer (if it is unable to answer)

By this service if the diverted number does not answer, after 5 calls, the number that we directed to will be able to answer it. For example: We have diverted 408-12-12 to 408-44-99. If we phone 408-12-12 and there is no answer, after 5 calls the call will automatically go to 408-44-99 (the number that we directed to).

A subscriber should dial:

* 61--- the number diverting --- «yes»---- registration 

# 64---«yes»---- deactivation.

* 64---«yes»---- activation.

# 61---«yes»---- cancellation.

 

d) Call forwarding according to the current position

By this service if the diverted number does not answer or is busy, the call goes to the number that we directed to. For example: We have diverted 408-12-12 to 408-44-99. If 408-12-12 does not answer for 5 calls or is busy at the moment, then 408-44-99 will hear the signal.

For the activation of this service a subscriber should dial:

* 63--- the number diverting--- «yes»---- registration.

# 69---«yes» --- deactivation.

* 69---«yes»---- activation.

# 63---«yes» --- cancellation

 

2. Call Waiting on hold (second call)

When this service is activated in any number:
If the phone line is busy and anybody calls this number, it will be announced: «Please, wait online, the number that you are calling is busy at the moment». The signal will be heard in the number that has this service. For receiving the incoming call, the key «Yes» should be pushed.

* 43—-«yes»---- activation.
# 43—-«yes»--- cancellation.

 

3. Call Transfer

While two subscribers are speaking to each other, the number whose above-mentioned service is active presses the button «Yes» and dials the second number (but he/she hangs the handset). The dialled numbers are able to speak to each other. Thus, the subscriber dials 2 phone numbers and transfers them each other. But him or herself becomes offline.
This service can be activated and cancelled in the ATS.

 

4. Calling Number Identification Restriction

For concealing a number, a subscriber should dial:
* 31 # +№—-«yes»---- for showing number by entering code.
# 31 # + №—-«yes»--- for hiding number by entering code.

This service is activated and cancelled in the ATS.

 

5. Trilateral Conference Call (3 Way Conference Call)

For the conference call (trilateral), the first number is ordinarily dialled. In order to dial the second number, press the button « Yes » and dial the number. After the answer press the button «Yes » again. In such a way, these three numbers can simultaneously contact with one another.

When you dial the second number, the first one will hear an announcement: «The number you are phoning is busy now, please, wait on hold». 

Only three numbers are able to speak together.This service can be activated and cancelled in the ATS.

 

 

6. Conference Call (multilateral)

By this service, you can hold group call among more than three callers. For the conference call (multilateral), dial the first number in the usual way. In order to dial the second number, firstly press the button « Yes » and dial it by the means of “* 81 + the second №”. After the answer, press the button «Yes » again. In such a way, you can simultaneously speak to all your callers together. When you dial the second number, you will be notified: «The number you are phoning is busy now, please, wait online».

A subscriber should dial:
* 81 + the second №----«Yes»----for including a number to the conference.
# 81--- «Yes»----- for excluding a number from the conference.

This service can be activated and cancelled in the ATE.

7. Don’t Disturb

When you phone the number which has this service, such announcement will be heard: «It is not able to connect with the subscriber, please, call later».

A subscriber should dial:
* 76----«Yes»----activation.
# 76----«Yes»----cancellation.

If you dial # 33 ----«Yes», you will be notified to add PIN code. After all, this service will be activated.
If you dial * 450----«Yes», you will be notified to add PIN code.  And this is the cancellation of the service.

 

8. Block all outgoing calls via Pin code

The number with this service has no output to any place. This announcement is heard: “Sorry, you have no permission to this call”. But some special services should be dialled. The Pin code for this service is “8888#”. A customer may change this code too. 

 A subscriber has to dial:

*33-----«Yes». This time an announcement is heard: “Please, enter your previous Pin code and press the key “#”. In another word, you are required to enter “8888#” and new Pin code in the announcement. The Pin code may consist of 4 numerals and the key “#”. This should be registered.

In order to activate this service, it must be dialled “#33-Yes”. 
But by dialling “450”, this service can be deactivated. 

 

9. Block outgoing calls via Pin code (optional)

With this service, you can block outgoing calls in different cases. For example, you may block the code « 0 », the code « 00 » or local calls by coding.

After coding, if you dial the barred number, you will be given notification to include Pin code. You can phone the proper number after entering the appropriate Pin code. Pin code is “8888#”, but it can be changed too. 

A subscriber should include:
* 44-----«Yes». For the registration of the service, you will be notified to include the previous Pin code, then twice the new Pin code.
* 41----- «Yes». For the activation of the service, enter Pin code.
* 42------«Yes». For the deactivation of the service, include Pin code.

 

10. The remote control of the services

 

For using these services, a subscriber should know the services’ code and the Pin code. The Pin code may be activated or hanged only in the ATS. For this purpose, you should dial the number "408-99-99" from any fixed and mobile network. Then you will hear: “Please, dial your telephone number and push the button “#. For example, if your number is "408-12-12", you should dial as following: "12408-12-12 #". Then you will hear again: «Please, enter your Pin code and press the button “#”». For example, if your Pin code is "1234", you should dial “1234 #". Later, you will be notified to enter your service code and press the button “#”. For example, you want to activate the preferential (unconditional) divert service in your phone. For this purpose, dial * 62+ the number you forwarding to and press “#”. Thus, you can activate this service without any operations over your phone. Via the remote control service, it is available to activate and register all other services (except liquidation and deactivation of them).

Monthly subscription fee and connection to the Internet is free of charge. You will pay only one coin for the traffic of 1 Mbit.
