Nokia sells its headquarters to reduce costs

Within the framework of the cost-cutting program, Finnish phone maker Nokia is going to sell its headquarters in the Finnish city of Espoo on the Baltic Sea.
According to preliminary estimates, with the sale of the head office, which is made of glass and steel, the company expects to gain up to 200-300 million euros for mobile phones sector. It is planned to find a buyer for the property in the near future.
Olympiads in Informatics to start soon

Olympiads in Informatics will start in a few days in Azerbaijan. Initially Olympiads will be held within secondary schools, then the city tournaments will start. Teachers of Informatics may use “e-olimp.az” web-site to prepare school pupils for the Olympiads. Google drops support for .doc in Google Apps

Google has dropped support for the export of spreadsheets, documents and other files in old-style Microsoft Office formats, the Computing reported.
From 1 October, according to a notice placed on the company's website, users of all editions of Google Apps – including Business, Education, and Government – will be unable to download documents, spreadsheets, and presentations in old Microsoft Office formats with file extensions such as .doc, .xls and .ppt. The Ministry of Communications and Information Technologies of the Republic of Azerbaijan has implemented a number of measures in order to insure the quality and continuity of broadcasting of the final round of the FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup which will be held in Azerbaijan.As part of these measures, fiber – optic cables lines were laid to "T.Bahramov", "Shafa", "8- Km", Bayil, "Dalga arena" and Lankaran stadiums in order to provide them with high quality telephone, fax, ISDN and broadband internet services.
Qatar hosts 25th UPU Congress

The 25th Universal Postal Congress of the Universal Postal Union (UPU) kicked off in Doha, Qatar on September 24. The event, which will continue until October 15, are expected to be attended by representatives from 192 member countries. Azerbaijan in the Congress is represented by representatives of the Ministry of Communications and Information Technologies.
Doha Postal Strategy (DPS) for the next period will be adopted and proposals of member states will be discussed at the event, which is convened every four years.
